The A & O gallery space opened 1989, after two years of guerilla activities, in West Berlin. After reunification, the gallery moved into the center of East Berlin. The new space, a former cow shed, shifted the exhibition focus from media to site specific installations. The space closed 1997. A & O continued to curate and exhibit in temporary spaces and partner projects.

Since 2022, we are propagating a creative, ethical approach to Artificial Intelligence, developing artistic concepts against the disappearance of the real and enabling an open discourse on the design of a completely new future.
It all started in the summer of 1989. A&O abruptly ended its previous undercover activities and overran the public. Unexpected productions proliferated in mysterious places around the city. Witnesses reported contradictory things so far. …
